About Minesweeper

Free minesweeper in your browser — the classic mine-hunting puzzle. Left-click to reveal a cell, right-click to flag a suspected mine. Numbers tell you how many mines neighbor the cell. Clear the entire board without detonating one. Three difficulty levels span beginner (9×9, ten mines) through intermediate (16×16, forty mines) up to expert (30×16, ninety-nine mines).

Pondernook minesweeper plays standard Windows-style rules: the first click is always safe. No signup, no install. Sessions range from thirty-second sprints on beginner up to multi-minute logical puzzles on expert. Works on desktop and mobile (touch + long-press for flag). For learners, the easy board teaches basic deduction patterns; for veterans, expert mode rewards memorized pattern recognition.

Frequently asked questions

Is the first click ever a mine?

No. The first cell you reveal is always safe, so every game opens up at least a little before you have to start deducing.

What are the board sizes?

Beginner is 9×9 with 10 mines, Intermediate is 16×16 with 40 mines, and Expert is 30×16 with 99 mines.

How do I flag a mine on mobile?

Long-press a cell to place a flag (right-click on desktop). The number on a revealed cell tells you how many mines border it.
